I'm a second year Internal Medicine resident and a lifelong Pacific Northwesterner. Before finding my way to medicine, I studied political science as an undergrad and worked as a Congressional aide. These experiences taught me that power comes through collective action that is focused on clear goals. As residents, we are in a relatively vulnerable position relative to our employer. Union membership and engagement serves as a professional and economic bulwark and is vital to improving the residency experience.
